Our Club is helping Guyton Elementary School send food home with students who may be hungry over the weekend.
Bring food items to club meetings and place them in the collection box for the Book Bag program. Suggested items are: mac & cheese, instant grits, instant oatmeal packs, beef jerky, individual applesauces, individual cheese & crackers, beanie wieneies, Vienna sausages, canned tuna & chicken, fruit roll ups, granola bars, pop tarts, corn bread mix. peanut butter, and jelly.
Effingham Hospital Speech Pathologist talks about dysphagia

Jennifer Cobb, Speech/Language Pathologist at Effingham Hospital, told the Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club about new treatments available at Effingham Hospital for dysphagia or difficulty swallowing. The medical disorder impacts mostly older patients with a cognitive impairment. The Hospital offers services to help achieve optimal communication with speech impairments.

"Effingham Rotary Sunrise President, Bonnie Dixon, thanks Mr. Darrell O'Neal for his presentation on Environmental Health." Mr. O'Neal works with the Department of Public Heath to ensure that local restaurants are complying with FDA food code regulations. He also does testing for public pools and well water. The website he mentioned for finding restaurant inspection scores is www.gachd.org. Visit the Coastal Health Department site, click on restaurant inspections, then click on Effingham County.
Community Forestry

Effingham Rotary Sunrise President, Bonnie Dixon, presents Mr. Daniel Wescot of the Georgia Forestry Commission with a commemorative pen. Mr. Westcot presented the club with the latest information on benefits of having green spaces, planted forests, and ecological balance.
Golf Tournament Date Set
The annual golf tournament fundraiser for the club will be Friday, September 18, at Black Creek Golf Course. Watch for details.
Second Club Fundraiser
Our club will sponsor a Charity Sporting Clay Shoot, Saturday, May 16, at the Savannah River Preserve.
Entry fees are $150 (2 person team), 100 shot cources, $75 per person, $15 Fun Game (5 stand).
Registration opens at 9:00 am, course opens at 9:30. The last entries will be at 2:30 pm. Awards and prize drawings will be at 4:00 pm. Lunch will be provided

Effingham Sunrise Rotary Board Member, Harry Shearouse, "pins" new member Julia Cochran. Mrs. Cochran is a returning Rotarian that has spent much of her life abroad serving others. Effingham Sunrise Rotary is proud to have her and others like her in our organization.
